November is a month to give thanks and give back to your community! Dayton IFMA would like to share a volunteer opportunity with our members as a way to give back to the Dayton region. This year we have chosen Crayons to Classrooms (DC2C). This organization is a free store for teachers from under-funded PreK-12 schools that serve students living in poverty. In partnership with local businesses, individual donors, and community volunteers, DC2C lifts at-risk student’s level and love of learning by collecting and distributing donated supplies and surplus products for use in the classroom. Teachers from eligible schools are invited to shop for what they need in their retail-style free store in a Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley building in Dayton, Ohio.

Crayons to Classrooms serves Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren (Franklin City Schools and Springboro City Schools) counties.

We will be creating Classroom Solutions products, die cuts, or other items that are packaged up and put in the store for teachers. All materials, tools, and instructions will be provided.

We will be volunteering on November 10 with a max of 15 volunteers. We will work from 10:00 am to noon. We will get lunch at Frickers afterward for those who can stay.

If you are not able to make this volunteer opportunity but would still like to help Crayons to Classrooms, please consider making a financial donation. For instance, $100 provides school supplies for 12 students for one semester, $25 provides 240 pencils for 5 students (the average student uses 48 pencils per school year), and $400 will sponsor an elementary school classroom for one year. Click Here To Donate
